On a quaint tree-lined, cobblestone street in Bötzowviertel Kiez in Prenzlauer Berg, you’ll find a lovely little vegan brunch spot called Greenfinch.
The 100% vegan menu boasts some delicious and unique options that go past the usual avocado toast and hummus plate. I went for the first time with two girlfriends after a morning workout. When we arrived the patio was bustling with groups of friends chatting and couples reading the paper while sipping their cappuccinos.
It wasn’t easy to decide what to get. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and from peeking over at the tables around, looked equally as good. Lucky for me, I ended up indulging in two of the sandwiches by going halfsies with a friend. We took the roasted red pepper and pesto on sourdough, along with the vegan goat cheese and herb on sourdough.
Both were absolutely delectable, but the goat cheese really blew me away. Normally I’m not that into vegan cheese but believe me when I say this tasted like the real stuff. It was smooth and creamy with the perfect balance of tart and earthy flavuors.
While the food was enough to keep me coming back time and time again, the true stars of the cafe were the lovely owners. A young couple that is beaming with positive energy. As soon as you get there, you feel immediately welcome and at ease, which unfortunately is not always the case in Berlin. You can feel the passion and the love that they poured into every corner of the cafe.
