As you stroll through the tree-lined streets of Condesa, there’s a bohemian energy in the air. Each beautiful building, whether it’s an elegant Art Deco mansion or a charming Beaux-Arts facade, tells stories of the past. But amidst all this historical grandeur, you’ll also feel a contemporary vibe stirring.

The neighborhood is filled with cool art galleries, trendy boutiques, and innovative restaurants that make it truly unique. Amongst all of this, you’ll find the latest gem in Austin-based Bunkhouse’s collection, Hotel San Fernando. Which is located just a stone’s throw away from the lush green heart of the neighborhood, Parque México.

A focus on Mexican Design

Collaborating with local artisans and design studios, the San Fernando Hotel has curated an exquisite collection of furnishings and decor across the 19-room property that pay homage to the rich cultural artistry of Mexico.

From the ceramic ceiling lights adorning the lounge, crafted by Anfora, a revered ceramicist with over a century of expertise, to the bespoke bedside lighting by Oaxifornia, where local artisans employ traditional techniques to create stunning ceramic bases in deep red hues, each piece tells a story of heritage and ingenuity.

But it’s more than just aesthetics. The hotel’s commitment to supporting local talent goes beyond surface beauty. Collaborations with Mexa, a Mexican-based studio, not only result in stunning seating for the rooftop lounge but also provide training and employment opportunities for vulnerable groups. Mexa works closely with social rehabilitation center residents, immigrants, and refugees.

Similarly, Comite de Proyectos, a female-owned design studio, brings its unique vision to the outdoor rooftop lounge seating, showcasing the creativity and talent of women in the design industry.

From the handwoven rugs by Enkelt to the meticulously curated artisanal pieces sourced from Originario, the San Fernando Hotel offers a journey through the diverse landscapes of Mexican design. With each collaboration, the hotel not only elevates the guest experience but also celebrates the vibrant spirit of creativity and community that defines Mexico City’s cultural landscape.

The Lobby Lounge, Bar, and Rooftop

The lounge space, which is open to the public, is embellished with plush velvet surfaces and jewel-toned furnishing, with the sage walls adorned with stunning pieces from Mexican artists. The mirror-backed bar is bold and dramatic in the best way possible, and you can belly up to try some of Mexico’s most famous spirits alongside some of the lesser known. Like everything at Hotel San Fernando, every detail is accounted for, even when it comes to the mixology and the menu.

In addition to the elegant lobby lounge, guests have exclusive access to the rooftop lounge. Here, amidst the lush greenery, guests can start their day by indulging in a delectable breakfast spread. Imagine savoring a freshly brewed cup of coffee or enjoying a sumptuous meal while being surrounded by a tranquil oasis, high above the hustle and bustle of the vibrant streets of Condesa. It’s an extraordinary setting that truly elevates the guest experience to new heights.
